Comments from artists about our 2017 show
“This is my 5th year doing this show. Each year it seems to get better and better. As always, very organized. Everyone is helpful with dropping off/ and picking up your artwork. The opening reception is always extremely well done. I will be back again next year! Beth DeMartino
"This was my first year participating in the Canterbury Art Show and I found it a very worthwhile experience!
It was the best organized show I have ever had the privilege to take part in. The artists were warmly received upon arrival with their work carefully handled and beautifully displayed. I can't think of a single suggestion, only a thank you to the art committee for a terrific show." Anne Goldberg
"It was a wonderful show on multiple levels.
One thing that could be done -- but it would involve expense -- would be for the upcoming Canterbury show to be advertised on color jumbo postcards that could be given to participating artists to take to their local public libraries, the Guild in Shrewsbury, etc.
Also they could be mailed to the people who made purchases in previous years' Canterbury shows. Of course, this would mean buyers would need to be asked to record their names and addresses for the Canterbury team.
This could be extended to everyone who attends the show, whether to purchase or not. There could be a guestbook to sign (including mailing address and email address) upon entering the show.
Another thing that occurred to me is that there could be volunteer artists-in-residence available to answer questions from show attendees, as they come up.
Volunteer artists serving as docents would be nice, but because of space limitations, I doubt this idea would work.
The auction was a great idea! And so was everything else that made up the show.
It's clear that there are dedicated workers behind the smooth running of the intake period and the show itself.
I'm very grateful that this show exists; delighted at the courtesy of everyone who eagerly helps the artists; and delighted that area charities benefit.
Kudos to each and every one of you!" Cecilia Swatton
